The Difference

The cool thing about Jesus is that He does not care where we come from, what our status is, how much money we have, how messed up we are, what we look like, or anything else the world tries to belittle people for.  His standards of what trend is in or what is defined as lovable do not exist because He is always constant - never changing like the world does.  Another characteristic that makes him a standout dude, is this; He is the only king ever that came to serve us, rather than to be served.  Just take a minute to picture that.. can you think of any other king or president that would serve others before expecting to be served.  I cannot.  Matthew 20:28 says, "even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many." Wow, enough said there - just let those words soak into your soul.

As many of you have heard or already know, Jesus has conquered death - it has no power any longer.  He has made a way for us to live an eternal life in the presence of Him... on two conditions.  Those two conditions come from Romans 10:9, which says this; "confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." God the Father made it pretty easy for us to experience life forever by putting the burden on His one and only son, folks.  If you want to learn more about this Jesus man, I wholeheartedly ensure you that there will be no regrets, but rather life in abundance!

I pray you choose or already have chosen to walk with Christ, to entrust Him with your everything, and to believe in the power of His all so wonderful self.  I pray you see the difference He has made and continues to make.  I pray that you see the glory of His creation as you look from the East to the West.

I pray you realize the reality and love of Jesus Christ - our Lord and Savior, King of kings.

His return is coming soon enough - prepare your heart.

GROWTH

A lot of people believe that Jesus and His beautifully powerful story are a myth, and well you actually might just think that too.  However, I believe differently and I hope you do too, or you eventually do.  I want to share some of my very real encounters with the Lord - encounters that watered my soul and deepened my faith.

Here is the deal.  I grew up in a Christian home.  I have always believed in God and I have never doubted His unconditional love for me.  However, even in my times of belief and never doubting attitude, I sometimes wondered how it could be true - it is a hard reality to wrap your head around.  But let me tell you there is a God who is everlasting. A God that governs time.

He has worked miraculously in my life and I want to share just one of the many times God has proven Himself to be not only true, but unstoppable.

It all began the fall of my senior year at a camp I had been going to for years for church retreats.  Imagine this with me; I am walking uphill, by a lake on a beautiful crisp morning - with a coffee in hand of course. Now, at the top of the hill I sit on a chair and am embraced by the beauty that surrounds me, but also with the thoughts about working at camp for the summer.  My mind could not stop thinking about working there.  I remember telling the Lord that I could not afford to give up a whole summer of work when I had to pay for college the coming year.  And then it happened.. my mind shifted from excuses and worry to the reality of God. He planted a thought in my mind that said, "What is more important? Me or money?" Immediately it was made clear to me what I was being  called to do.  As a result I grabbed an application and was hired to be a camp counselor for summer 2018.

BUT GOD WAS NOT DONE WITH ME YET.

Throughout the rest of my senior year I applied for as many scholarships as possible.  I gave up my spring sport to work at the local grocery store, and I was still going to be short money for college. But in the goodness of the Lord's heart, He provided me every last dime I needed for my freshman year of college and more because He can.

I love this man - even if God did not reward me in this way for choosing Him over money, I would serve at Camp Shamineau all over again because I got to see God break down walls of hurting kids.  I got to see Him leave the 99 sheep for the one lost.  And I got to experience the strength He promises us.

Pick Jesus.  Choose Jesus.

You will not regret it.
